Abstract Submissions

Showcasing your research at the Breath Summit is an outstanding opportunity to participate in a dynamic event at the forefront of breath research!

To submit a late-breaking abstract via the submission portal, please follow this format: title, background, objective/aims, methods, results, and conclusion. Ensure your abstract remains within 500 words and use fonts like Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman, or similar. Conflict of interest and financial disclosures, ethics board approval, and documentation of informed consent where necessary are also required.

As several impressive abstracts were received during the initial submission period, there will be fewer opportunities for late-breaking abstracts to be selected for podium presentations.

The deadline to submit an abstract is 11:59 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Breath Summit 2024 Travel Bursaries

There are 10 travel bursaries available for early career researchers attending the 2024 Breath Summit. These bursaries, kindly provided by the IABR and Indiana University, consist of $500 in reimbursement funds for travel expenses and reimbursed conference registration. 

Please review the eligibility details below and email Michael D. Davis, RRT, PhD (mdd1@iu.edu) to express your interest and confirm your eligibility by May 3, 2024.

  • Eligibility

    To apply for a travel bursary, you must...

    • be an IABR member in good standing (student or regular membership): if you would like to become a member, or have not yet renewed your membership for 2024, please visit the IABR website: http://www.iabr.at/become-a-member/ (if you require an invoice, please contact membership@iabr.at).
    • be an early-stage researcher: undergraduate or postgraduate student, PhD student, or post-doctoral fellow with less than three years since being awarded a PhD.
    • have submitted an abstract to give a talk at the Breath Summit. The oral presentation need not be confirmed at the time of applying for the bursary.
    • have registered for the conference: if your registration for the conference relies on a successful bursary application, please indicate this in your application.

    Breath Summit rates are detailed below and based on attendee status. "Early bird" rates apply until March 31, 2024. After that, standard "late owl" rates will apply until registration closes on May 20, 2024. Visit the registration portal.
